7 thoughts about updating my living room
- I thought I wanted my style to be shabby chic. By thought I mean I’ve pinned countless pins with rustic glam items, woods, vintage, and repurposed items galore.
- All my taste however happens to be contemporary (snooze). My current living room staples are two black leather couches which completely scream bachelor pad. My only excuse is that I purchased these for a different space. This different space was a very industrial open floor plan apartment in downtown Richmond.
- After countless hours of scouring Pinterest again and stalking trendy chic design blogs, it turns out shabby chic is too shabby and not enough chic for me.
- My new goal… Glam it up!
- In reality, it is not in the budget to completely start over and wipe the slate clean. So the plan is to keep the foundational furniture (including the black leather couches) and add a few pieces and accessories. The definition of “a few pieces” is very debatable but we shall see.
- Based on needing to incorporate pieces I already own, the end result is likely going to end up a contemporary, rustic, glam blend. I’m going to call it bachelor pad meets girlfriend.
- Here’s to hoping it comes together in just the right way.
Here are the designs I came up with and a few items I snagged from HomeGoods this afternoon to get started. Stay tuned for the before and after pictures… hoping to finish in a month or so but I imagine this is going to require a few DIY projects and several more shopping trips.
Chardonnay
P.S. What’s in my glass…
Opened a bottle of Cooper’s Hawk Chardonnay to enjoy while spending the evening pinteresting (totally a verb right?) and attempting to make my designs come to life. Cooper’s Hawk is a new found favorite of mine, they recently opened a Winery and Restaurant here in Richmond. I visited shortly after they opened and joined their Wine Club after my first tasting. This gets me 2 bottles of wine and 2 tastings every month plus other perks for only $35.99/mo. They have not only one Chardonnay that I really enjoy, but three!
Here’s the breakdown of their Chardonnay tasting menu
•Unoaked Chardonnay: zesty acidity with lemon, green apple, and melon throughout $16.99
•Chardonnay: medium-bodied delivering notes of banana, melon, and toasted oak $16.99
•Lux Chardonnay: round and full-bodied finishing with citrus, peach, and baking spices $29.99
The middle Chardonnay is my favorite and what’s in my glass tonight!
